A transposed anglicized variant name which has 'Huguenot' associations and derives from the French heraldic surname 'Busingen' also found in Switzerland. After the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685, many thousands, certainly over one hundred thousand protestant refugees fled to England. In the two centuries following they maintained their semi-national status but gradually became wholly anglicized. The name development in these instances requires genealogical research, but we are satisfied as to the former origin. The Coat of Arms being per bend silver and blue charged in chief with a red knights spur. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Ehily Buddan (as spelt) which was dated June 24th 1846, Liverpool during the reign of Queen Victoria, The Great White Queen 1837 - 1901. Surnames became necessary when governments introduced personal taxation. In England this was known as Poll Tax. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling.
