Church recordings include one Marie Garshore who was christened on April 17th 1655, at High Church, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Sarah Gartshore married Laurence Dinwoodie on August 27th 1691 in glasgow and Alexander Gartshore married Anne Houston, in Glasgow on July 20th 1718. Maxwell Gartshore married Elizabeth Murrell at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster on May 17th 1795. One Dr. Maxwell Gartshore (1732-1812), a physician accoucheur, was parobably the most eminent of his name. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Gartschore, which was dated 1478, in "surnames of Scotland", by George Black, during the reign of King James 111 of Scotland, 1460 - 1488.
